Our USA Adventure – Week 13 (?) – G. W. Bush Center and Carlsbad Caverns

So I didn’t really count the weeks but it seems about right and there’s some poetry to calling it “Week 13” since yesterday was Friday the 13th and we’re in Roswell, NM with aliens all around us (the kind made of wood and resin, of course)! But, I’m not blogging about that this week – that comes next week! This blog is about the George W Bush Presidential Center in Dallas and about Carlsbad Caverns!

We visited the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas on Friday, Spetember 7th. Maybe because the date was so close to the anniversary of 9/11 or maybe not, but it was a very emotional experience for us both. There was an entire exhibit room with videos and phots dedicated to September 11, 2001 and the events following. I know this is controversial territitory and I don’t want to offend anyone, but I came away with a sense that President Bush was a very great president. There it is.

The Carlsbad Caverns were a truly awesome experience! The photos don’t begin to capture what its like to be down that far (the elevator decends 750 feet!) and see such wonders of nature, lighted with special attention to displaying the formations to the best effect. We only spent a couple of hours there, and we want to go back – possibly even on this trip!

Thanks for checking our blog! Have a great week!

Those who know us may remember our sailboat, a 26′ MacGregor named “Close To You”, and therefore…Read More
